Anguilla Hosts 11th Regional Law Conference

The 11th Regional Law Conference of the OECS Bar Association will convene in Anguilla on 12th September 2014. The Conference is designed to bring together members from various bar associations throughout the sub-region of the Eastern Caribbean and beyond.

It provides an opportunity for continuing legal education to members of the legal profession and it enables attendees to hear from law professors, other legal luminaries and members of the judiciary about legal development in the jurisdiction and beyond. It also provides an opportunity to network with members of the legal profession and to create strategic alliances.

 

Also scheduled to take place are the Association’s Biennial General Meeting and a Gala Dinner in celebration of its 25th Anniversary. The Keynote speaker of this event will be the Right Honourable Sir Dennis Byron, President of the Caribbean Court of Justice. A number of other social events will take place over the weekend.

A Law Book Exhibition which includes Publishers Thomas Reuters, Lexis Nexis and Wildy & Sons Ltd will form a critical component of the Regional Law Conference. The exhibitors’ booths will display a wide array of new publications and books on legal issues which practitioners can purchase at significantly reduced prices will also be opened during the time at the Event.

The OECS BAR ASSOCIATION is an umbrella bar association which comprises the Bar Associations of all nine constituent bar associations of the OECS States which was formed in 1989.
